John P. Dixon, or as his friends call him, Johnny D, has been a vital part of Arizona’s music scene for over 60 years, as a DJ, musician, Capitol/ABC Records promo man, producer, and record collector. He is known as the “unofficial Arizona music historian,” because of his unparalleled knowledge of Arizona’s music history. His website, AzMusicDude.com is packed with vital Arizona music history. He is an obsessive collector of Arizona music stories, recorded music and memorabilia. He has made a career of archiving, documenting, and reissuing Arizona music by local artists, 1920’s – 1980’s, including Billie Maxwell, Loy Clingman, Duane Eddy, Al Casey, Sanford Clark, Dyke and the Blazers and Alice Cooper. He owns publishing and reproduction rights for many Arizona music master’s from Audio Recorders of Arizona. In partnership with Fervor Records, these tracks are licensed for TV and cable shows, movies and commercials. John says, “This is a great way to keep vintage Arizona Music alive around the world and support many of the musicians and families who made the original records so many years ago.” John is one of the founding members of the Hall of Fame, and we are proud to induct John Dixon into the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame.
