Sam McAllen Jr., a Boy Scout with Troop 446 out of Scottsdale Arizona, chose the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame, AMEHOF, to be the beneficiary of his Eagle Scout Project. Sam approached the AMEHOF Board of Directors with his idea which was to construct two large custom display cases for the organization to display memorabilia and recognize the accomplishments of the organization’s inductees. The Board agreed and Sam began completing paperwork with the Boy Scouts of America and raising funds to support this endeavor.
On May 30, after a dozen volunteers donated over one hundred and eighty hours of labor, Sam McAllen and a team of volunteers delivered and donated two display cases to AMEHOF. The display cases can be viewed at The Hall (7919 E. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, Arizona) a local entertainment venue that has partnered with AMEHOF to display inductee memorabilia and host AMEHOF benefit concerts and events.
The Board of Directors offered Sam the opportunity to choose an inductee whose memorabilia would be displayed in one of the display cases he constructed as his Eagle Scout Project. “After reviewing the list of persons already inducted into the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame I chose to honor Steven Spielberg because I have enjoyed his films and felt he needed to be recognized by having his own display case. I later learned that Mr. Spielberg is an Eagle Scout which confirmed that I made the right choice” said Sam.
Later this summer Sam will go before an Eagle Scout Board of Review that will evaluate his Eagle Scout Project and other Scouting accomplishments to determine if he has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievable rank in the Boy Scout Program. In addition to completing his Eagle Scout Project, Sam recently graduated from Saguaro High School (Scottsdale, Arizona) where he was Captain of the Track Team, performed in the school’s production of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and sang with the Saguaro High School Vocal Ensemble at Carnegie Hall (New York).

We are working on finishing the videos for our first induction ceremony at the Hall. We produce a short video for each inductee and that’s what’s been holding us back from having induction ceremonies… Our first induction ceremony at the Hall will be: Bob Boze Bell, Zane Grey and Andy Devine. As soon as their videos are finished, we will schedule the ceremony. If you have video production and/or editing abilities and would like to volunteer to help us produce the videos, please let us know..
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with construction projects, cleaning, painting, etc. at the Hall. Please sign up on our Volunteer committee if you’re interested in helping us.
The list of our next inductees who have been voted in, but not yet officially inducted is:
The Riverside Ballroom
The Meat Puppets
Bob Boze Bell
The Celebrity Theater
Corki Casey O’Dell
We hope to be inducting these folks as soon as possible.
